Female Ghost of Bhangarh Fort:

Bhangarh Fort is remarked as the ‘most haunted place in India‘. It is placed in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. Son of the Maharaja of Amer Madhav Singh Built this fort in the seventh century. Entry before sunrise and after sunset is strictly prohibited in Bhangarh fort. A symbol by the Archaeological Survey of India outside the fort alerts people to not stay within the fort after sunset. So there might be something mysterious and creepy. This is one of the most famous haunted places in Rajasthan as well as in India.


Princess Ratnavati, the daughter of Chatr Singh, was very beautiful. A Tantrik, who practiced sorcery, fell in love with her and wanted to marry her. He gifted her a spell so that Ratnavati would fall in love with him.  Understanding the fact, Ratnavati threw the bottle which became a boulder, and hit the Tantrik. But before he died, he cursed the princess, her family, and also the village.

Spooky Incidents:

Some eerie sounds come out from inside the fort at night, like the sound of a cry of a woman, the sound of bangles. Air gets charged with an uneasy heaviness. It’s said that spirits roam inside the closed gates at these hours. The fort and its premises become a hotbed for paranormal activities.

Among those stories, one famous story is about three daredevil boys who decided to stay in Bhangarh Ka Kila after sunset only with a torch. But one of them fell into a well. In spite of being rescued and get treated in the hospital, they faced a tragic accident and died.

Cursed Land of Kuldhara Village:

Kuldhara is a completely abandoned village. It is situated around 18 km southwest of Jaisalmer. Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is maintaining this village as a heritage site. It is said to this village is the home of ghosts. In the air of desolate Kuldhara village, there is something heavy. Is there any paranormal activity or not its debatable! But obviously, there is an air of sadness to lose its people’s homeland. This is one of the most famous haunted places in Rajasthan.


It is said to the village has been cursed since the 1800s. It was once home of Paliwal Brahmins. A sinful minister of the state, namely Salim Singh, fell in love with a beautiful girl of that village and wanted to marry her forcefully. Instead of submitting the girl, the villagers of Kuldhara and people of 85 neighboring villages left their ancestral land in just one night and vanished. It is said to before leaving the land the villagers, had cursed the land. So that no one could ever live or breed on this land.

The Paranormal Society of Delhi checked this place. Is there any mysterious incident happens or not? According to them, their ghost box and ghost detector recorded some creepy sound, voices of dead villagers, and even the name of those dead villagers. Not only that, scratches on the car, Strange sounds, shadows flitting over the dilapidated houses, footprints of the children on the mud frequently were reported by those people who had gone there.

Spirit Of An English Soldier in Brij Raj Bhavan:

Brij Raj Bhavan is placed on the bank of the river Chamba, Kota. It is now used as a heritage hotel of Rajasthan. This palace hotel has stunning living and drawing rooms, regal décor, beautiful lawns and terrace gardens, cheerful birds, pleasant weather, delicious food, etc. But the hotel is infamous as a haunted place of Rajasthan. It is believed that a spirit of an English soldier moves in the halls and premises of the palace. This is one of the most famous haunted places in Rajasthan.


Rajasthan was once home to the British Regency and some royal families who were allied to the British. Brij Raj Bhavan was once the residence of an English soldier; named Major Charles Burton. He was an employee of East India Company. During Sepoy Mutiny in 1857, Indian militants attacked the palace and killed Major Charles Burton and his family in his own mansion. It is believed after that King of Kota of that time recovers the dead bodies and buried the bodies in the central hall of the mansion. Soon after, local residents started to see the ghost of Major Charles Burton in the premises of Brij Raj Bhavan.

Spooky Incidents:

In the year 1980, former Maharani of Kota shared her experience to see the ghost of Major Burton with a journalist.  She would see Major Burton in her study room as an aged man with white hair and a walking stick. According to her, it is a harmless ghost.

But according to the guards of this palace, the ghost would slap the guards to wake them up from drowsiness. They also received a scolding from the ghost.

Some tourists have felt uneasy weather at the central hall or other specific areas of the mansion. People are told to stay in the rooms at night and avoid taking a walk in the garden or terrace of the palace. Just as a precaution, even after believing the ghost may be harmless.

Secret Chamber of Rana Kumbha Palace:

Rana Kumbha Palace is placed inside the Chittorgarh Fort in Rajasthan. It is placed near the Vijay Stambha near the entrance gate.  There was once the temple of Lord Shiva, Zanana Mahal, Diwan -e -aam, along with a stable for horses in this fort. It has a beautiful panoramic view. This fort was once the inhabit of the well-known poetess Meerabai. This is considered one of the most famous haunted places in Rajasthan.

But it is another of Rajasthan’s haunted places. It is also considered the scariest place in the region. It is believed o have secret chambers and secret passages where one can hear the mysterious screams of women and children. 


This fort was believed to be built by Bappa Rawal. Later, during Maharana Kumbha renovated it, and then this was named after him. Rani Padmini, the queen of Mewar kingdom and wife of Rana Rattan Singh was unprecedentedly beautiful. In 1303, the matchless beauty of Padmini, Rani of Chittor caught the eye of Sultan of Delhi, Allauddin Khilji.

Legend has it that when Alauddin Khilji attacked and defeated Rana Ratan Singh, instead of surrender Rani Padmini along with her 700 female followers performed the Jauhar, self-immolation. Since then, it is said that spirits of them meander across the palace complex.

There are many stories about this fort where people heard the voice of women asking for help to save their empire.

But the most horrible was when around a year back, a group of friends stayed one night at the palace to observe if there were any paranormal activities or not. While exploring the passages of the fort, they heard a female scream asking for help. As they turned around, they saw a lady standing in royal attire with a burnt face.

The Prince’s Ghost of Nahargarh Fort:

Nahargarh Fort is placed at the edge of the Aravalli hills and serves an amazing view of the “Pink City“, Jaipur. Like Amber and Jaigarh, Nahargarh once served as the defense ring for Jaipur. To disconnect the royals from the world, the walls of the fort were built sky-high. In 1734, the king of Jaipur, Sawai Jai Singh, built this fort.


It is believed that the original name of the fort was Sudarshangarh. But lately, it is known as Nahargarh. There is two theory behind the history of the name. The first one is, Nahargarh which means the “adobe of the tiger.” And the name comes from it.

The second and interesting one is, the name Nahargarh came after the name of the spirit of Nahar Singh Bhomia. Nahar Singh Bhomia was a Rathore prince. It is claimed during the excavation for the construction of Nahargarh fort, the spirit of Nahar Singh Bhomia was disturbed, disrespected, and hurt. Thus, the spirit started haunting the place. That’s why the king decided to change the name of the fort. He also built a temple to his name. But, it is said that his spirit has not got any rest.

Spooky Incidents:

It is needed to renovate the older buildings to preserve them for the future generation. The engineer who was leading the renovation project of the fort was found dead mysteriously in his own home. According to locals, Nahar Singh Bhomia was disturbed again with the renovation work, which is why he eliminated the engineer in-charge.

Ghastly stories of NH79 Dudu Village:

NH79, the highway, is famed as the “road that asks for blood.” NH79 or the Ajmer-Udaipur highway is one of the most famous haunted places in Rajasthan. The Dudu village is placed very near to it. Numerous ghastly stories are attached to this highway and village.


History states that a long time before when child marriage was conventional in India, in Dudu village, a five-days old girl child was to be married off to a 3-year-old toddler. The mother of that girl infant was against the marriage. So taking the baby girl in her lap, she ran away towards the highway to ask for help. A tourist vehicle hit her and her child, and both of them, died instantly on the spot. From that incident, it becomes haunted places in Rajasthan.

Spooky Incidents:

Since then, there were plenty of ghostly incidents around the highway NH79. Many tourists on that highway have encountered the ghost of the woman covered in blood carrying a baby asking for a lift in the middle of the highway and then suddenly disappears.

One of those incidents was, three friends, while driving on the Ajmer-Udaipur highway, encountered the lady covered in blood, carrying a baby in her arms, and asking for a lift. The lady sat on the back seat of the car and guided them out of the village. But suddenly, she disappeared in the air.

Jagatpura: The home of witches:

Jagatpura is another of Rajasthan’s haunted places. It is not a palace or fort or mansion. It is a densely crowded place. This place has a haunted vibe attached to it. Jagatpura is overall a peaceful place. But when the moon comes up, it becomes one of the most famous haunted places in Rajasthan.


The king of Jagatpura was very egocentric and greedy. Under his rule, the villagers died out of starvation. Many villagers cursed him during their death. It is said to their spirit to ask for help from the villagers. For those stories, it believed to be one of the haunted places in Rajasthan.
